Each No BS! Brass performance is a perfect balance of raw exuberance, and highly refined polish. Ranging in length from 30-90 minutes, a typical No BS! Based in Richmond, Virginia, No BS! Brass has earned a reputation as one of the region’s premiere bands for their heart-pounding energy and exceptional skill. The eleven members (nine brass players, one drummer and one singer) bring the full complement of their university musical training to the vast array of music (hip-hop, rock, rap, film scores, jazz, and funk) that is their lifeblood.
Since 2006, No BS! Brass has torn up thousands of miles of asphalt traveling from their beloved RVA to cities across the US, and have performed at dozens of festivals across Europe and Canada. They have performed at the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Monterey Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Telluride Jazz Festival, and on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert.
In 2017, the Richmond Symphony commissioned nine epic versions of No BS! Brass original songs for full orchestra plus brass band. These arrangements, by members of the band, have been performed at several festivals and concerts throughout the area.
No BS! Brass is also dedicated to passing on their love and knowledge of music through masterclasses, clinics, and workshops, to students of all ages. Topics include brass performance, songwriting, and music business.
Equally at home in the club or on the parade route, in the concert hall or on a festival stage, No BS! Brass creates new believers wherever they go!
