ABOUT
As winners of the Ibla Grand Prize Competition in Italy, Kevin and Bryan Matheson of the Classic Strings Duo are awakening audiences to the music of the violin-viola duo. They received critical acclaim at their Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut as part of the Ibla Foundation winners' tour and have been recognized for their mesmerizing and spirited performances - two perfect virtuosos, playing as one.
The duo has teamed up with pianist Brenda Wittwer, as the Rainier Trio. An exciting and energetic group in its fifth season, the trio brings audiences undiscovered gems from the violin-viola-piano trio repertoire. Recently the trio released its first CD including works by Mendelssohn, Glinka, Milhaud and Fuchs.
CONCERTS
Appropriate for all ages and include discussions of the works. .
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Artists provide programs appropriate for the audience (K-12th) and include instrument "petting zoo" with small-sized violins and audience participation. .
MASTERCLASSES & RESIDENCY PROGRAMS
Master Classes, Residency Program: Artists provide music students (3rd-12th) with a more in-depth exploration into music making, self-expression and stage presence.
