ABOUT
The Eastern Virginia Brass is known for lively performances and easy rapport with audiences. The ensemble has commissioned, premiered and recorded new works by Virginia composers. Enthusiastically partnering with dancers, poets and other artists for innovative performances, the quintet brings this same fresh inspiration to four centuries of brass repertoire.
CONCERTS
range from the festive The Splendor of Brass to a Sousa-style concert with Brass Light to the monumental sound of Celebration for Brass and Organ. The musicians introduce and comment on the music throughout the performance inviting an informal relationship with audiences.
EDUCATIONAL CONCERTS
presented by teaching artists performing great music. It’s Not Over Until the Tuba Plays—the Quintet showcases each instrument (middle school to college). Everything You Wanted to Know...—the Trio presents an interactive program of fun and great music (elementary). Master classes—what it takes to play a brass instrument, concepts and repertoire (middle to college.)
