ABOUT
The Richmond Symphony, founded in 1957, is one of the largest performing arts organizations in Virginia. The orchestra makes 200 public appearances each season, employs 70+ musicians, performs for approximately 125,000 patrons each season, and reaches thousands more through radio broadcasts on WCVE-FM.
CONCERTS
A variety of programs can be tailored to suit the needs of diverse audiences and include favorites from the classical and/or Pops repertoire. The 36-member Richmond Symphony Chamber Orchestra is attractive to many presenters because of its portability and fees. Concerts offer an option for a guest artist and can be targeted towards families.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
The Richmond Symphony Orchestra performs for more than 35,000 students throughout Virginia annually. Lecture/demonstration concert programs, presented by the Chamber Orchestra or the Symphony's Brass, Wind, or String Ensembles, allow schools the opportunity for professional musicians and/or Associate Conductor Erin Freeman to instruct students by demonstrating instruments, discussing rhythm, and explaining musical structure.
