Competition Structure

The Poetry Out Loud website contains vast resources for students to research and prepare for poetry recitation.  The Poetry Out Loud anthology contains more than 600 classic and contemporary poems, where students can begin the research and recitation process. The anthology is updated annually and it is common for popular poems to be retired.  Please note that you are reviewing poems that are updated for the 2016-2017.   In addition there are audio files and videos for review to aid in the interpretation and performance elements important to effective recitation.  A recitation checklist is provided for your quick reference, here (PDF).
